BARTEE SENSEI James Richard Bartee, Jr. is the sensei and director of Aikido of Lake Keowee, LLC. Bartee Sensei is a 5th degree black belt (Godan) in Aikido and a 1st Dan (Shodan Ho) in Muso Jikiden Eishen-ryu Iaijutsu. Aikido of Lake Keowee, LLC is a member of Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (www.asu.org), a federation of more than 125 dojos. Thousands of students train at ASU schools. Mitsugi Saotome is the Shihan (master Instructor) for ASU. The ASU is affiliated with the “Aikido World Headquarters” (www.aikikai.or.jp) in Tokyo, Japan.
Bartee Sensei is an honorably retired U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Senior Special Agent. He had the honor to be personally assigned to the duties of protecting President George Bush and his family, President Bill Clinton and his family, presidential candidates, and other visiting head of states. In addition, Bartee Sensei is a certified USSS Fitness Coordinator. He was highly trained by the USSS in Defensive Tactics and Defensive Measures. In addition to a 5th Degree black belt in Aikido, he is also a Shodan Ho (1st Dan) in Muso Jikiden Eishen-ryu Iaijutsu, 3rd Degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and accomplished in Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu, Hapkido, Bando Karate, and Wrestling. He also teaches Aikido classes and self-defense classes for college credits on behalf of Clemson University. Bartee Sensei routinely conducts his “STREET SAFE SEMINAR,” an eight hour self-defense course for the non-martial artist, at Clemson University, other educational institutions, public safety agencies, businesses, companies, organizations, groups, and individuals. LINTHICUM 3nd DAN (SANDAN) "Som Linthicum has had the pleasure of training at many different dojos around the country, among them UC Aikido, Aikido of Livermore Valley, and Pittsburgh Aikikai. This has allowed him to learn from a variety of teachers with disparate styles and approaches to Aikido. Philip Fairbrother Philip “Phil” Fairbrother is a 2nd Dan (Nidan) in ASU aikido and a 1st Dan (Shodan Ho) in Muso Jikiden Eishen-ryu Iaijutsu. He has been training at Aikido of Lake Keowee for over 07 years.
